2015 DBP Annual Meeting Overview

The annual meeting of the MCHB-funded Leadership Education in Developmental Behavioral Pediatrics (DBP) Training Programs was hosted by the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia DBP program on March 18-20, 2015. Approximately 35 faculty and 40 fellows from the 10 funded DBP training programs were in attendance at the meeting.
This meeting provides an opportunity for DBP fellows to present research in various stages of progress in front of faculty and peers for feedback.
Eighteen fellows presented research projects related to children with Autism Spectrum Disorders. Some of these included:
Lexical Differences Distinguish Autism Outcome Infants at 12 Months of Age presented by DeWayne Lazenby, Boston Children's Hospital
Therapy and Medication Use in Young Children with Autism: A Secondary Data Analysis from the Autism Treatment Network presented by Daniela Ziskind, Children's Hospital of Philadelphia
Dysmorphic Features and Copy Number Variants in Children with Autism Spectrum Disorders presented by Kristopher Kaslauskas, University of California San Diego
Delayed identification of Autism Spectrum Disorder in Children Previously Diagnosed with ADHD presented by Amir Miodovnik, Boston Children's Hospital
In addition, a number of the fellows are using the platform of the DBPNet research network to conduct their research projects, including current cross-site studies between fellows at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, Boston Children's Hospital, and Children's Hospital at Montefiore looking at various PROMIS measures in children with Autism Spectrum Disorders.
In addition to research presentations, fellows and faculty had an opportunity to hear from local experts in the field discussing both their areas of interest as well as their career trajectories. These included Dr. David Mandell, Dr. William Carey, Dr. Steve Leff, and Dr. Sara Kinsman. Ample time was also provided for individual fellow mentoring and small group discussion of important career-related topics.
