Putting Health Literacy into Practice: A Pediatric Perspective

This free Web conference, sponsored by the American Academy of Pediatrics in collaboration with the Federal Maternal & Child Health Bureau, will feature three health literacy experts: Terry Davis, PhD, of Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center-Shreveport; Mary Ann Abrams, MD, MPH, of Iowa Health System; and Benard Dreyer, MD, of New York University Medical Center. This Web conference will focus on strategies to address health literacy within your programs target population.

 

By participating in this Web conference, participants will be able to:

  • Gain awareness of the health literacy problem
  • Develop skills and techniques to address low health literacy
  • Learn principles for selecting or developing plain language print materials
  • Identify resources within AAP for addressing low health literacy

Registration is now open! Due to limited amount of lines, we strongly encourage you to register as early as possible to ensure participation in the call. Also, it is recommended that participants from the same program call from one line (Speakerphone/Polycom is needed in this situation). Please complete the section "Additional Listener Information" for each additional listener participating in the call from your location. This information will be sent to the primary contact person no later than one week before the Web conference. You will be able to see and hear the presentations online, as well as submit questions to the speakers as they present.
