Recent years have shown the need for more diversity within the UCEDD network, both in leadership roles and service related positions, in order to serve the diverse population of individuals with developmental disabilities. In September 2009, the Administration on Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (AIDD) awarded three-year grants to two UCEDDs to develop partnerships with minority-serving institutions (MSIs).
