This event is for LEND members who indicated an interest in learning more about The Effectiveness of Interdisciplinary Training as presented by staff from UNC-Chapel Hill. Participants will acquire resources and strategies that will be useful to MCH Training Directors and faculty in their core interdisciplinary leadership programs.  Only 20 seats are available by invite only. The event will be held on August 4-5 in Chicago, IL.

Chicago Transit Authority Train Service to the Airports

O'Hare Airport (45 mins @ $2.50/person + 4 block walk)

At the airport, follow signs for the CTA Train. This will be one level down from the baggage claim level. Take the Blue Line to Downtown Chicago. You will be on it for 45 minutes (cost is $2.50 per person, each way). You will get off the train at the "UIC-Halsted" Stop. From that stop, you will need to walk North on Halsted Street for 4 blocks. The hotel is located at the corner of Halsted and Madison, on the right-hand side of the street.

Midway Airport (40 minute train @ $2.50/person + 7 block walk or $5.00 taxi)

At the airport, follow signs for the CTA Train. This will be a covered walkway to the train stop. Take the Orange Line to Downtown Chicago. You will be on it for about 40 minutes (cost is $2.50 per person, each way). You will get off the train at the "Washington/Wells" Stop. From that stop, you still have to go about 7 Blocks to the hotel. You can either walk West on Madison Street to arrive at the hotel, OR catch the "#20 Austin" Bus at the corner of Madison & Wells (cost is $2.25 per person, each way). Taxi cabs are also available (for approximately $5.00) to take you that last few blocks to the Crowne Plaza Metro.

AUCD will have a van taking people from the hotel to the workshop.  Meeting times and places are TBD.  If you elect to walk from the hotel to the LEND, it's 1.1 miles.  A google map here shows the distance and neighborhood.

Travel Reimbursement

Limited travel reimbursement is available for this meeting. Each registered attendee is eligible for up to $500 travel stipend with relevant receipts.  Download the travel reimbursement policy and form at right.  Reimbursement requests and all relevant backup is due to AUCD no later than September 5.

Workshop Objectives

  1. Learn about the effects of the UNC Consortium's interdisciplinary leadership development program on trainees, family members, and systems of care
  2. Review the components of the UNC-Chapel Hill program
  3. Experience selected elements of the program's activities
