She holds multiple certifications related to employment for individuals with disabilities, such as CWIC, FBIRN, TRN train the trainer for Supported Employment and Natural Supports, and Mark Gold and Associates in the Discovery process. Brenda supports the values based, person centered philosophy that guide the work of the Learning Academy. She has been instrumental in arranging internship and employment connections to the program that has led to positive outcomes for those we serve.=0D=0A=0D=0A =0D=0A=0D=0A=0D=0A=0D=0ATammy Jorgensen Smith, PhD, CRC has a master's degree in Rehabilitation Services from Florida State University and a Ph.D. in Counselor Education with a specialization in Leadership from Barry University. She has been a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor since 1999. Dr. Smith joined the University of South Florida (USF) in 2007 as a Research Assistant Professor with Florida Center for Inclusive Communities - a University Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities. Currently, Dr. Smith is a tenured Associate Professor in the Rehabilitation and Mental Health Counseling Program at USF. Her research focuses on the development and implementation of innovative, customized employment (CE) models to promote full inclusion and self-determination for people with complex disabilities. Dr. Smith serves on the editorial board of several prestigious journals and has completed manuscript, grant and textbook reviews. She has published multiple peer-reviewed articles and presents her research at local, state, national, and international conferences.
