The purpose of these webinars is to promote learning and to provide an opportunity for students and Disability Section members to share their research throughout the year! =0D=0A=0D=0AThis webinar will focus on Health Promotion for Adults with Disabilities. The moderator of this webinar is Alicia Dixion-Ibarra, PhD, MPH. Alicia is a post doctorate scholar at Oregon State University, where she works to advance health promotion efforts for adults with disabilities through research, education, and leadership. =0D=0A=0D=0ADestiny Singleton, is a doctoral student in the School Psychology Program at the University of South Florida. Her primary interests are in pediatric school psychology, as well as behavioral trainings for parents. She am currently working with Dr. Jennifer Marshall and Dr. Christopher Vatland on a project that focuses on developing educational modules for parents with intellectual disabilities to increase their knowledge on health, safety, and maintaining a routine for their child. With this project they hope to see an increase in health outcomes for parents, as well as for their child. This group also hopes that agencies who may work with parents with intellectual disabilities are able to adapt their current modules so they can be more effective for this population of parents.=0D=0A=0D=0AYasmine Adem, MPH, RN, CHES, is currently pursuing her Doctorate of Nursing Practice with an emphasis in public health at the University of Colorado, Denver. Her doctoral project is addressing the issue of frequent emergency department use for primary care needs through improved community care coordination efforts. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Nevada State College and her Master of Science in Public Health from the University of Nevada, Reno. She has worked in a variety of settings that span from acute care to public and community health. She currently works for the State of Nevada with the Department of Health and Human Services in the Aging and Disability Services Division.
