Attendees will learn about a messaging campaign and a quality improvement project focusing on improving developmental surveillance and screening among pediatricians. Laura Frankel DeStigter, Manager of Screening in Practices Initiative at the AAP will present the planning and early implementation of the Screening in Practices Initiative. =0D=0A=0D=0AThe Screening in Practices Initiative aims to increase the rates of developmental screening, referral, and follow-up for developmental milestones, maternal depression, and social determinants of health. Attendees will learn about the National Technical Assistance Resource Center on Screening (NTARCS), which will provide evidence-informed technical assistance and resources to assist practices in implementing effective screening, referral, and follow-up for developmental milestones. You will have the opportunity to ask questions about the projects!=0D=0A=0D=0ASpeakers:=0D=0A=0D=0AChristina Boothby, MPA, Medical Home Initiatives in the Division of Children with Special Needs at the American Academy of Pediatrics=0D=0A=0D=0AMs Boothby is Manager, Medical Home Initiatives in the Division of Children with Special Needs at the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP). In this role, she oversees all priority projects and initiatives related to medical home and family-centered care at the AAP. She also oversees an initiative to increase awareness about developmental surveillance and screening among pediatric clinicians, child care providers, and families. Previously, she was the Manager, National Center for Medical Home Implementation (NCMHI) at the AAP. In this role, she provided strategic direction and oversight on all technical assistance, priority projects and initiatives of the NCMHI, including a family engagement quality improvement project. Prior to the AAP, Ms Boothby worked at the American Orthopedic Association (AOA) on a quality improvement program to help practices and hospitals improve the care of patients with osteoporosis and to prevent recurring fractures. Ms Boothby has a Masters in Public Affairs with concentrations in Nonprofit Management and Public Policy Analysis from Indiana University.=0D=0A=0D=0A=0D=0ALaura Frankel DeStigter, MPH, Manager of Screening in Practices Initiative at the American Academy of Pediatrics =0D=0A=0D=0ALaura Frankel DeStigter, MPH, oversees the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) Screening in Practices Initiative, which aims to increase rates of screening, referral, and follow-up for developmental milestones, maternal depression, and social determinants of health. Ms. DeStigter joined the AAP in 2011 as Program Manager, School Health Services, in which capacity she managed a cooperative agreement with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention focused on providing training, resources, and technical assistance to school nurses and physicians to improve school health services. Prior to her position at the national AAP, Ms. DeStigter served as Project Director for Medical Home Initiatives at the Illinois Chapter of the AAP, focusing on using quality improvement to improve care coordination for children with special healthcare needs.
