These challenges show the need for the scaling up of evidence-based programs and health promotion efforts into the communities where people with IDD live, work, and play.=0D=0A=0D=0APrograms including HealthMatters, a specific evidence-based health promotion program has shown success as a health promotion program in multiple states. Community based organizations also play a vital role in implementing health promotion programs and influencing policy support. This webinar will further discuss the need and importance of health promotion initiatives and scalability for the IDD population. Policy implications and recommendations will be discussed.=0D=0A=0D=0APresenters:=0D=0A=0D=0A=0D=0A=0D=0AJasmina Sisirak, PhD, MPH is an Associate Director of Training and Dissemination at the RRTCDD and the Research Assistant Professor at the Department of Disability and Human Development, University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC). Jasmina received her PhD in Public Health with emphasis in Epidemiology and Community Health. Her research interests consist of nutrition, health literacy, health promotion and curriculum development for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their caregivers. Jasmina is also Associate Director of the HealthMatters Program.=0D=0A=0D=0ABeth Marks, RN, PhD is a Research Associate Professor at the Department of Disability and Human Development, UIC and the Associate Director for Research in the RRTCDD. Her research interests include the empowerment and advancement of persons with disabilities through health promotion, health advocacy, and primary health care. She has published numerous articles and books related to health promotion, health advocacy, and primary health care for people with disabilities. Dr. Marks is also the Director of the HealthMatters Program.=0D=0A=0D=0AJessica Minor, MPP is the Public Health Program Manager at AUCD. She supports capacity development and technical assistance for the AUCD network, under a cooperative agreement with the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). She most recently worked as the Program Assistant on the Operations Team, aiding in daily operations and cross-departmental needs.=0D=0A=0D=0ALindsey Catherine Mullis, MS received her bachelors in exercise science and psychology along with her masters in health promotion and a certificate in developmental disabilities. She is the Health & Wellness Coordinator for the Human Development Institute at the University of Kentucky and partners with the Kentucky Division of Developmental and Intellectual Disabilities to promote healthy lifestyles for people with I/DD across the state of Kentucky.
