K. Shriver Center=0D=0A=0D=0APatrick has been involved in the Shriver Center Emergency Preparedness Initiative since 2009. His responsibilities include: training public health and safety responders and participating in training development; collaborating with a self-advocate emergency preparedness consultant; writing emergency preparedness blogs and articles for the Shriver Center Spotlight (where he also serves as lead writer); serving as a " volunteer victim" to provide stakeholder feedback at mandatory hospital drills; conducting interviews and being interviewed as part of educational videos for online courses and other purposes; participating in training course quality assurance testing; and entering all Shriver Center emergency preparedness data into the AUCD/NIRS database in his role as one of the NIRS Data Coordinators for the Shriver Center. Patrick received his MA in Professional Writing from UMass Dartmouth in 2011.=0D=0A=0D=0ANathaniel Trull, Advisor of the Powerhouse Self-Advocacy Group, Consultant to the E.K. Shriver Center, University of Massachusetts Medical School=0D=0A=0D=0ANathaniel "Nate" Trull, a longtime self-advocate, serves as a consultant to the E.K. Shriver Center in the area of emergency preparedness. Nate is committed to educating individuals with disabilities about this topic so that they can take a more active role in their own emergency preparedness. Nate has further demonstrated his commitment to this endeavor by leading various emergency preparedness trainings (in-person and via webinar) to approximately 1,000 individuals with disabilities and support staff at agencies throughout Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Delaware, and South Carolina. In addition, Nate has participated in decontamination drills at local hospitals, appeared in an emergency preparedness video as part of an online course offered through UMASS Medical School and in a national public health video, and participated in a national conference sponsored by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.
