The Act funds activities in the National Institutes of Health (NIH), the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) through the Maternal and Child Health Health Bureau (MCHB). MCHB refers to their activities under the Act as the Combating Autism Act Initiative (CAAI), and strives to enable all children, infants at risk for developing autism spectrum disorders and other disabilities to reach their full potential.=0D=0A=0D=0AThe CAAI within MCHB is centered around four areas: interdisciplinary training programs including LENDs and DBPs, research networks in Behavioral and Physical health, state demonstration grants to develop state plans to improve systems of care for children with ASD and DD, and a national evaluation of the efforts.=0D=0A=0D=0AObjectives of MCB's Combating Autism Act Initiative: =0D=0A=0D=0A Increase awareness of autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and other developmental disabilities (DD)Reduce barriers to screening and diagnosisSupport research on evidence-based interventions for ASD and other DDPromote the development of evidence-based guidelines and tools for interventionsTrain professionals to use valid and reliable screening and diagnostic tools and provide evidence-based interventions for ASD and other DDImprove systems of care for children and families affected by ASD and DD=0D=0A=0D=0ATwo resource centers, the Interdisciplinary Technical Assistance Center on Autism and Developmental Disabilities (ITAC) of the Association of University Centers on Disabilities (AUCD) and the State Public Health Autism Resource Center (SPHARC) of the Association of Maternal Child Health Programs (AMCHP), work closely with MCHB and their CAAI partners to host the webinars and other MCHB CAAI activities.=0D=0A=0D=0A=0D=0A
