A paucity of information is available on the cost of early intervention services to aid in decision-making. This webinar will discuss extensive statewide expenditure data for one state on the monthly and annual cost of providing early intervention services to infants and toddlers and their families. The discussion will share the following information:Costs of serving children with various numbers and percentages of delay;Costs of providing care coordination services;Local and state-level administrative costs for Part C services;Cost of transportation when providing Part C services in natural environments;Costs of serving Medicaid-eligible children; andCosts of serving infants and toddlers with an autism-spectrum diagnosis.=0D=0A=0D=0ASpeakers=0D=0A=0D=0ASue Brown, MEd=0D=0APart C Coordinator for the State of HawaiiJean Johnson, PhD=0D=0AAssociate Director of the UCEDD at the University of Hawaii=0D=0A=0D=0A=0D=0A=0D=0A=0D=0A=0D=0ASue Brown has been working in the area of early intervention since 1985. She is currently (since 1999) the Part C Coordinator for the State of Hawaii. She was a Board member of the Infant-Toddler Coordinator Association. From 1987-1999 she was Assistant Project Coordinator for the Part H (currently Part C) program. From 1985 to 1987 she worked on early intervention grants with the Hawaii Department of Education. Other related work experience includes faculty of the Special Education Department, University of Hawaii, and both special education and regular education teacher.=0D=0A=0D=0A Jean Johnson is Associate Director of the Center on Disability Studies at the University of Hawaii and on the faculty of the MCH-Lend Program, and the Early Childhood and Special Education Programs. From 1987 to 1999, she directed Hawaii's Early Intervention Part C program for infants and toddlers with special needs in Hawaii.=0D=0A=0D=0A=0D=0AA Fellow of the American Speech-Language Hearing Association, she has been active in implementing newborn hearing screening. Between 1996 and 2000, she served on the Federal Interagency Coordinating Council. She is Principal Investigator on a number of research, training, and service grants, is on the Board of Directors of Easter Seals and the Learning Disability Association of Hawaii, and is President of the Good Beginnings Alliance.
