Summary:The AUCD Council for Community Education and Dissemination and Communications SIG are co-hosting a webinar on the impact of Social Media for UCEDDs with guests Matt Gianino from the Institute on Disability of University of New Hampshire and Mark Crenshaw from the Center for Leadership at Georgia State University. The will discuss how to use social media within the context of a UCEDD, why social media is important, how impact is made and how to measure use, especially for NIRS.

The Active Ingredients in Home Visiting: Using The Home Visit Rating Scales (HOVRS) To Engage Families and Improve Outcomes

Summary:Providing home visiting services to families can be challenging work. Families with the greatest needs can sometime be difficult to engage in the home visiting process. The Home Visit Rating Scales were developed based on research examining the practices of home visitors that lead to better family engagement and child outcomes. The Home Visit Rating Scales are in use by programs nationally and internationally with the goal of improving the home visiting process and related outcomes. This webinar will provide a brief overview of the Home Visit Rating Scales including: how it aligns with DEC Recommended Practices, an overview of the measure, research supporting its use, and information on how it is being used in practice.

The Current State of Service Coordination Across the Country

Summary:The national status of service coordination under Part C of IDEA for infants and toddlers with disabilities and their families will be described using data from surveys and case studies. The presenters will describe three data sets collected to measure aspects of service coordination, and discuss the challenges facing service coordinators and families as reported in the data.

AUCD includes 5 Councils that address emerging trends and issues to facilitate communication across and beyond the AUCD network, including community education, leadership and advocacy, research and evaluation, diversity and inclusion, and interdisciplinary training. This year, one trainee per Council will be selected as a Council Trainee Representative and act as a liaison between the Emerging Leaders Community and the Council.

Summary:Join AUCD's Mental Health Aspects of ID/DD SIG and the Wellness and Mental Health Learning Group, formed by AUCD's National Center on Disability in Public Health, to hear updates on how people living with disabilities define wellness. Timed in conjunction with Mental Health Month, AUCD hosted a Twitter chat, IDefineMyWellness, to solicit input from people with disabilities on what wellness and mental health means to them. Lessons learned and experiences from facilitating this learning group, as well as the resource developed will be showcased.
