LEND Program Coordinator Credited for Her Contribution in Peer Review Article.  Congratulations to Crystal Pariseau, LEND Program Coordinator!  Members from the Partnership for People with Disabilities (VA LEND Program) and Crystal co-authored the article, "The role of pediatric Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation in the national Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental Disabilities (LEND) program: The Virginia experience."  The article was published in the inaugural issue of the Journal of Pediatric Rehabilitation Medicine.

Policy Analyst's Work Published in United Kingdom's Journal.  Congratulations to Dr. Joe Caldwell, Policy Analyst!  His article, "Experiences of families with relatives with intellectual and developmental disabilities in a consumer-directed support program" was published in the recent issue of the Disability and Society Journal.  The current study explores the experiences of families with relatives with intellectual and developmental disabilities participating in a consumer-directed support program in the USA.

Disability Policy Leadership Fellow David Morrissey Becomes Permanent Staff. Disability Policy Leadership Fellow David Morrissey is joining AUCD as a permanent staff member.  He will serve as Program Manager and will be working on the ADD TA contract and the new Autism Regional Meeting Project.  A Kansas native, David comes to AUCD most recently from Arkansas, where he completed a Master of Public Service degree from the University of Arkansas, Clinton School of Public Service.  There he participated in LEND and UCEDD-based research and did fieldwork in the Arkansas Delta and in Vietnam.  As a Policy Fellow, David worked extensively in legislative affairs, provided staff support for COCA, and developed a variety of other projects.  Highlighting David's Fellowship were presentations to both the National Conference of the Spina Bifida Association and the International Conference on Birth Defects and Disabilities in the Developing World in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

2008 Virtual Trainee Named.  Terri Abrams, a Family Discipline trainee at the Strong Center (NY UCEDD/LEND) will begin her service at the AUCD Annual meeting.  Ms. Strong, who is a parent of a child with a disability and a nurse, will focus on building a virtual network among trainees at AUCD member programs.
