Project Description
Specific Language Impairment is a developmental childhood language disorder affecting the elements of receptive and expressive language. Although articulation may be fine, this disorder makes children very hard to understand, and they may have difficulty comprehending spoken language as well.

Family and twin studies have produced evidence for genetic influence, but it has been hard to localize specific genes that affect SLI. This project will lead to a more precise definition of the phenotype which should allow individual genes to emerge that may play a key role in SLI.
