MCH Timeline: History, Legacy and Resources for Education and Practice

Briefly describe the activity and its purpose.

The MCH Timeline traces the history of maternal and child health in the U.S.  It provides in-depth modules on topics such as MCH 101, MCH Systems of Care, Infant Mortality, and MCH Performance and Accountability; it also allows users to search for topical areas of interest.

MCH Training Programs are encouraged to explore this site with trainees and new staff, using the opportunity to discuss the history of maternal and child health, disability, and public health. Explore by decade or topic and direct users back to sections of the site throughout the year when discussing systems of care, program evaluation, advocacy, and more.

The MCH Timeline can also be presented as as PowerPoint (set to music) during a seminar or as part of a poster presentation. Download the PPT file here.
