Vita/Bio

Marc J. Tasse, Ph.D. is a Professor in the Departments of Psychology and Psychiatry at The Ohio State University and Director of the Nisonger Center - UCEDD. Dr. Tasse has a long history in the UCEDD network. After completing his Ph.D. in clinical psychology at the Universitedu Quebec a Montreal, Dr. Tasse went to the Ohio State University Nisonger Center - UCEDD to complete a postdoctoral fellowship in developmental disabilities (1994-1995). Having completed his postdoctoral fellowship, Dr. Tasse accepted an Assistant Professor position in the Department of Psychology at the Universite du Quebec a Montreal. He returned to the UCEDD network in 1999 as an Assistant Professor of Psychiatry and Community Education Director at University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill's (UNC) Center for Development and Learning (CDL). Dr. Tasse remained at the UNC CDL for seven years and left in 2006 to accept the challenge of being Associate Director of a newly funded UCEDD at the University of South Florida (USF). Dr. Tasse's experience includes clinical services for more than 30 years to individuals with intellectual disability and other related developmental disabilities. His area of research includes co-occurrence of intellectual/developmental disabilities and psychiatric problems or severe problem behaviors, adaptive behavior, psychometrics, support needs, and the use of remote support services and technologies. Dr. Tasse has conducted 300+ trainings, workshops, and presentations in the following areas: Diagnosis of intellectual disability (ID), ID and co-occurring mental illness/complex behavior problems, Positive Behavior Supports, Assessment/Testing, Using the Supports Intensity Scale, Introduction to Developmental Disabilities. His publication record includes more than 175 articles in peer-reviewed journals, chapters, and books in the area of ID/ASD/DD. He has co-authored several published standardized assessment instruments in the field of developmental disabilities. Dr. Tasse is a Fellow of the American Association on Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities, American Psychological Association, and the International Association for the Scientific Study of Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities.  He is also the recipient of AAIDD Service Awards (2007, 2009, 2011, 2021), the APA Division 33 John W. Jacobson Award, and National Historic Recognition Project: 2000-2020 (2020).
