AUCD’s Public Policy Committee typically meets monthly on the second Tuesday of the month at 4:00 pm ET. The Policy Committee is created by the Board of Directors to support the mission, vision, and values of AUCD by supporting AUCD’s efforts to advance policies and practices that improve lives of people with disabilities. We welcome any person affiliated with a University Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities, Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental and Related Disabilities Program, or an Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities Research Center to join. Members of the Committee are either appointed by individual member Centers/Programs or self-selected with the approval of the individual’s supervisor. Learn more about AUCD’s Policy Committee and the expectations of members. Join AUCD’s Policy Committee.

We also encourage everyone to sign up to receive Disability Policy News. Disability Policy News is a bi-monthly newsletter providing federal policy updates regarding policies impacting people with disabilities. You will find Disability Policy News particularly helpful when trying to understand how current legislation (being written, debated, or implemented) is relevant to your work with action steps to engage. Sign-up. AUCD has also created a series of “How-To” Factsheets on how to get involved in public policy.
