Claire brings her life experience as the parent of a young lady with complex developmental disabilities to her work as Adult Services Coordinator at the Sherlock Center on Disabilities. She supports individuals with significant disabilities and their families to envision an active, fulfilling life in their communities and plan the steps to achieve that dream.

Supports individuals with significant developmental disabilities and their families in learning principles of self-determination, person-centered planning, and community membership as they assist their family member in implementing self-directed budgets to support their lives in the community.

Family Support Coordinator - 2001 - 2008

Supported families of youth with significant developmental disabilities in planning transition from high school to a meaningful adult life of full participation in their communities Provided training and technical assistance to families of individuals with disabilities, professionals and systems in Rhode Island to promote the family's role in personal decision-making about services, supports and planning.

Rhode Island IEP Network Consultant- 1999 - 2004

Rhode Island Department of Education

Promoted quality IEP development through presentation of professional development trainings for school staff and families. Assisted with the development of the Northern RI Regional IEP Network. Helped staff statewide IEP Hotline for families and school staff.

Served as a resource for families in the Northern Rhode Island Region on issues relating to transition from school to adult life for students with disabilities.
