Vita/Bio

Teresa Smith is a regional Account Representative with the DRS Corporate Connections Program. In this role she works as a business consultant, providing services to increase employment opportunities for individuals served by the Tennessee Department of Human Services, Division of Rehabilitation Services. Teresa conducts outreach and marketing activities to promote the benefits of employing people with disabilities within the business community. She provides professional development and employment services to assist Tennessee businesses in recruiting, hiring and retaining qualified employees. As a regional employment resource, Teresa is located in the Johnson City DRS regional office building and has been in this role since 2003.

She is a graduate from East Tennessee State University where she received her BBA in human resources management. Teresa has over nine years of human resources experience. She was the Human Resources Manager at Hurd Corporation in Greeneville, TN where she was responsible for contract administration in a 200-employee union manufacturing facility. In the position of Human Resources Manager for Best Manufacturing in Johnson City, TN, she managed a dynamic workforce, hired over 400 employees, and developed contingent workforce strategies. During this time, Teresa recruited and hired several employees with disabilities. In both positions, she was responsible for legal compliance including ADA, hiring, training, benefits, workers' compensation and the safety/environmental programs. Teresa is a member of the Northeast Tennessee Diversity in Employment Consortium, the Northeast Tennessee Youth Council, and the Johnson City Chamber of Commerce.
