Vita/Bio

Stephanie Cowherd is an Associate Director at the Center for Literacy, Education and Employment.  She currently provides leadership for programs funded by the Tennessee Department of Human Services, Division of Rehabilitation Services.  This includes the DRS Corporate Connections program, a statewide team that conducts marketing and outreach activities within the business community to promote employment for people with disabilities.  These regional business consultants provide services to assist companies in recruiting, hiring and retaining qualified employees.  In addition, she oversees a team providing on-going technical assistance and professional development for community rehabilitation agencies.

Stephanie has over 25 years of experience managing programs that promote workforce development.   Her background includes coordinating resources and developing services that assist companies in creating diversity in employment.    As a business consultant, she works to enhance opportunities for people with disabilities.  Her work includes extensive marketing and outreach activities to build business relations.  Throughout her career, she has conducted training and coordinated professional development opportunities for the community, business leaders, educators and human service personnel.

Stephanie has a Bachelor's Degree from the University of Tennessee, majoring in Psychology and Spanish.  She has completed graduate course work in Business Management.
