Vita/Bio

Wendy Jones, M.Ed., MSW is a bilingual early childhood special educator and social worker, passionate about the development, health, wellness and safety of families, and communities. She focuses her energies in the areas of advocacy, support and training for those with limited English proficiency, developmental, intellectual and emotional disabilities. She is an author, researcher, trainer, early childhood mental health consultant and coach, specializing in issues affecting marginalized groups.

Ms. Jones has served as faculty at the Georgetown University Center for Child & Human Development (GUCCHD) for more than two decades. She teaches first year medical students in community-based settings, provides clinical services and supports, and facilitates professional development & training on a range of topics. She has expertise in home visiting with populations including teen parents, parents with limited English proficiency and parents with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD).

Ms. Jones has been with the Georgetown University National Center for Cultural Competence (NCCC) since its inception, and is past Director of the Center's Children and Youth the Children and Youth with Special Health Care Needs Project. In that role she provided training, TA and consultation to state MCH funded programs to advance & sustain cultural and linguistic competence in services and supports to children and their families.

For the last five years, Ms. Jones has served, as a Senior Policy Associate on the NCCC's various programs funded by AIDD.
