Education Minot State University, Minot, ND Bachelor of Science in Special Education and Elementary Education, 1978 Masters of Science in Special Education, 1982 Professional Experience February 2008-Present Minot State University (NDCPD) Minot, ND Service Contract Specialist Data Linkage Grant a Center for Disease Control funded proposal to link newborn hearing screening data with other data sets in ND. We're Ready a ND Council on Developmental Disabilities funded proposal to emphasize the needs of the disability community in disaster preparedness. Dakota Boys and Girls Ranch staff development training Tele Audiology Protocol Development, contract with HRSA to develop and beta test a management protocol, a technical protocol and a tool kit to be used to diagnose hearing loss in infants 0-6 months of age using a tele medicine network. 1984-2008 Minot Vocational Adjustment Workshop, Inc. Minot, ND Program Director / Deputy Director/Director of Human Resources Planned and directed the implementation of the daily programming for adults with severe disabilities living and working in a community facility. Implemented an in-service training program for all direct care staff. Assisted with the development, implementation and ongoing management of North Dakota's first Javitz-Wagner-Oday contract between a private non-profit agency and the federal government (Minot AFB) Expanded these contracts to provide employment opportunities for more than 150 people with disabilities and contracts in excess of $3 million/ year. Instrumental in the development of a regional recycling center serving northwest ND. Directed the cooperative agreements with area communities and businesses to purchase recyclable materials. Grew the operation to include a confidential document destruction service as well as well as hazardous material recycling. Worked with mill buyers and brokers to market materials throughout the USA. Oversight of operation and maintenance of five 12 bed group homes, a 24-unit apartment complex and an 80,000-sqft building housing recycling, a day service program and additional leased space. This included ongoing maintenance/upkeep as well as utility management. Assured compliance with Life Safety Code regulations in three facilities. Director of Human Resources for over 500 staff. Duties included recruitment, benefit management, training, job description development, evaluation procedures and disciplinary action. July 1982-December 1983 North Central Human Service Center Minot, ND Developmental Disabilities Regional Administrator Implemented court ordered deinstitutionalization of Grafton State School in the seven county region in ND. . Supervised staff that assisted parents in making placement decisions and reviewed the purchase of services from local non-profit agencies. August 1978-May 1981 Minot Public Schools Minot, ND Special Education Teacher Responsible for the education of 11-21 year old students with developmental disabilities in a Jr. High School setting. Was instrumental in changing an academic based program to a functional skill program emphasizing real life skills. Community Service Minot Sertoma Club, local service club held many offices including President First Lutheran Church, Council President Neighborhood Development Enterprises, Board President, NDE is a local non-profit corporation that owns and operates affordable housing in the Minot area
