Core Personnel
Core Director: Michael Msall

Core Description

The purpose of this core is to provide technical assistance and methodological consultation for IDDRC members, and IDDRC consortium investigators nationally, as they address major causes of morbidity and mortality in children and their impact on intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). This core seeks to enhance the use of registries and networks dedicated to children with complex disabilities and to improve outcome assessments for children enrolled in clinical trials, so as to explicitly understand the impact of this research on long-term neurodevelopmental and cognitive functioning.

Services

The services offered by the Neurodevelopmental and Intellectual Disabilities Clinical and Translational Research Core are:

* Providing assistance in protocol preparation so that neurodevelopmental outcome measures from both clinical and survey research can capture intellectual disability.

* Providing access to national and regional registries and networks of individuals with neurodevelopmental disabilities

* Providing guidance to assist investigators in gaining access to other IDDRC cores or CTSA or other institutional resources.

* Aiding with acquisition of biomarkers and neuroimaging markers

* Presenting seminars and outreach programs highlighting current research involving children with neonatal, genetic, cardiac, neurological, oncological or rehabilitation disorders and the appropriate use of neurodevelopmental outcome measures

* Providing consultation and training in the use of neurodevelopmental measurement tools

* Providing a framework for collaboration and dissemination of information to highlight clinical and translational research advances in IDD.
