Upload Materials Online

Deadline: November 5

AUCD 2014 will have over 600 attendees viewing over 140 presentations on all things disability.  We are thrilled to have so many Directors, Faculty, Staff, Trainees, and Self-Advocates and Friends from the network and partner organizations with us in DC, however we don't want to limit the sharing and knowledge to just those individuals. Many more people are anxious to learn from what will be presented at the conference.

We ask you to continue dissemination of your research and projects by posting your handouts, materials, and/or slides from the conference on the AUCD website using the instructions below.  If you run into trouble, please contact Oksana who will help get your materials up for everyone to view.

  1. Step 1 Visit https://www.aucd.org/conference/meetings/register.cfm?id=204. Find the login form at the top right and enter your username and password.
There are two ways to find your username and password:
    1.  When you submitted your proposal for the Conference, you received an email confirming your submission. That email contained your username and password to login into the system.
    2.  You can also select the "don't know your password?" link, which will take you to the "Remind Me" form. You must enter the email address which was used by the person who submitted the proposal. Watch your inbox for a reminder email containing your username and password.

  2. Step 2: Log in. Look in the top right corner of the page for a box titled "Previous Registrations" to see a list of previous events you have registered for using the AUCD website.

  3. Step 3: Select "2014 Call for Papers." You will be taken to a page showing a confirmation and summary of your original submission.  (If you submitted more than one proposal, you'll see a list; select the submission you'd like to work on first.)

  4. Step 4: Find the form to upload your presentation and any related materials.  Browse your computer to find the files; you can upload multiple files at a time: another line will automatically appear to accept the next document.  Title your document so others can understand it.  Select "upload."  NOTE: you cannot upload excel or JPG files.

  5. Step 5: Confirm you have uploaded the correct documents, and select "Submit to AUCD."  The screen will refresh with a message, "Thank you, your information has been saved" and you will receive an email confirmation as well.

Questions?  Email Oksana or Crystal.

Session Types

The AUCD Conference features several types of sessions, allowing attendees to learn more during their time at the conference.  Please read below to familiarize yourself with the full details and changes before beginning the proposal submission process.

presention
Presentation/Discussion Session

Individuals submitting in this format are expected to present during a 75-minute session; sessions are presented a single person or small group of presenters. Accepted proposals for discussion sessions are expected to be prominent researchers or scholars presenting groundbreaking research or innovations in developmental disabilities. A minimum of 20 minutes of the session should be dedicated to a collegial discussion on the issue presented. Approximately of 8 presentation/discussion session proposals will be accepted for the entire conference. Proposals submitted but not accepted in this format may be offered a 20 minute paper or poster slot instead.

panel
Panel Session

A panel is a group of thematically linked presentations. Groups submitting in this format are expected to present during a 75-minute session. Each panel will have a minimum of three (and a maximum of four) presenters and one moderator. Each presenter will have up to 20 minutes to present their research or project; the moderator will be expected to keep time and facilitate a 5 minute question and answer time per speaker.

Two different types of presentations will be accepted for panel sessions:

Panel Submission (aka "I have a full panel")

Groups submitting in this format must have an identified minimum of three (and a maximum of four) presenters and one moderator to be considered a full panel.  Each presenter will have not more than 20 minutes to present their research or project; the moderator will be expected to keep time and facilitate a 5 minute question and answer time per speaker.

Diversity among organizations, Centers, and individuals is strongly encouraged on each panel (i.e,: a panel might include a researcher, a trainee, and a self-advocate presenting various elements of one project; groups from multiple organizations within the state presenting on family support efforts in their state; or presenters from multiple Centers showcasing on the different ways each uses distance technology in training trainees).

AUCD will not accept submitted panel sessions where there is only one presenter who is an author on multiple presentations. Please use this submission format only if you have a common theme, between three and five distinct presentations and presenters, and an identified moderator.

Paper Submission (aka "Put me on a panel")

Individuals submitting in this format are expected to present a 20 minute paper during a 75-minute session. Each paper submission will be combined with a minimum of two (and a maximum of three) additional paper submissions at the discretion of the proposal review committee. Because several presentations will be combined into one timeslot, only one speaker per proposal is permitted. The review committee will assign a moderator to the session to contact all presenters before the session, and to keep time, and facilitate a 5 minute question and answer session per speaker during the session.

poster
Poster Session

NEW in 2014! Poster submissions will be asked to present either in a topically focused poster symposium event on Monday morning or in a general poster reception on Monday evening, at the discretion of the proposal review committee.

Poster Symposia

Several topically focused poster symposia (8-15 posters per) will be held Monday morning for 2.5 hours, allowing conference attendees to have in-depth discussions with presenters and others interested in the symposia's focus. Presenters accepted in this format are expected to create and hang a poster (not larger than 4' tall by 8' wide), accompany their poster and discuss it with symposium attendees, and remove the poster at the conclusion of the event. Electronic versions of posters, in PowerPoint or PDF format, will be posted on the AUCD Conference website both before and after the conference.

Poster Reception

The AUCD Poster Session is Monday evening for 3 hours. Presenters accepted in this format (40-60) are expected to create and hang a poster (not larger than 4' tall by 8'wide) prior to the poster session, accompany their poster and discuss it with interested attendees during the poster session, and remove the poster at the conclusion of the event.
