Call for Proposals

Invitation to Present

The 2011 AUCD Conference provides an opportunity to celebrate the great strengths and capacity of our network... and to share those strategies in research, education, and service that continue the journey towards equity and excellence. We invite you to join your colleagues in this year's meeting and to help shape the future of the disability field. We welcome the submission of important work in any area of disability research, service, education, and advocacy. As you consider possible submissions, we are especially interested in presentations and topics that describe:

  • Historical depictions of people or events that had significant impact on the lives of people with disabilities
  • Historical analysis of significant issues or challenges in the field
  • Analysis of the impact of legislation or policy on equity and excellence in service delivery
  • Research that documents the efficacy of strategies, projects, models of service, or policy
  • Innovative approaches to education that increase access and excellence
  • Innovative approaches to service that increase equitable access to services and supports
  • Innovative collaborations across disciplines, partners, or cultures
  • Contributions of new technologies to training, services, and dissemination
  • The role of cultural competence and diversity in the widespread adoption of innovation
  • Models of research, education, or service that lay the foundation for future directions

These topics are not intended to be limiting. The 2011 AUCD Conference is a call to look at ways to increase the impact of our work - to better understand the spread of effective practices and to ensure that they endure. We welcome proposals from the entire AUCD network and its partners, including individuals with disabilities and their family members, faculty, researchers, program directors and staff, students, policymakers, administrators, and advocates. The 2011 AUCD Conference provides a special opportunity to share your interests, talents, and perspectives with others in the network and our partners. We look forward to receiving your submissions and your subsequent participation in the conference.

Sincerely,

Signature

About AUCD 2011

It has been 40 years since our network was founded. 2011 is a time to reflect on the accomplishments of the last forty years, to face the challenges of today, and to imagine the future. It is important that we celebrate our accomplishments in advocacy, in education, in systems change, and in promoting self advocacy. It is also important that we recognize the issues and challenges of today and develop solutions and strategies that will continue the journey. And it is important to continue to envision the future.

The 2011 AUCD Conference provides an opportunity to celebrate the great strengths and capacity of our network... and to share those strategies in research, education, and service that continue the journey towards equity and excellence. Join your colleagues in this year's conference and help shape the future of the disability field.
