Location: Grand Ballroom North Salon
Session Description
Universal Design for Learning (UDL) is a professional development concept that strives to make classroom learning accessible to all students, no matter their individual backgrounds. This workshop will introduce faculty to the concept of and strategies employed by UDL with a focus on the four key areas: curriculum, instruction, assessment and environment. The workshop will give an overview of the new online UDL module for Think College Learn, and explore the impact of applying UCD strategies in college courses. Participants will leave with multiple UDL resources, including strategies to create cross-campus, sustainable initiatives for improving teaching and learning. Participants will also be presented with examples of innovative uses of UDL elements in higher education, including mobile technologies and innovative mobile apps. The workshop will include hands on activities and participants are encouraged to bring mobile devices.
This workshop is part of the "Inclusive Higher Education: Moving from Good Ideas to Great Outcomes" conference held in conjunction with AUCD2013. Interested participants may register through either conference site.
